First Freshwater Fish Catch of 2013

Just wanted to do a quick update from yesterdays post.

We dug up some worms, took some bread, and lures and off we went fishing!

It was a beautiful day but it became cloudy while we were fishing – perfect conditions to catch some fish!

My son started out using bread and a bobber. His first cast and he caught a white perch!

Here’s a picture of it:

We fished for over an hour and our final tally was 4 white perch and 1 sunny!

All in all it wasn’t a bad start to the new fishing year!

First Freshwater Fishing Trip – 2011

Finally had a chance to go fishing last weekend!

First trip this year, so it was important that my 7 year old son had a successful trip!

We stocked up on some worms and took a few lures as well. Checked over the rods and reels and everything looked good!

We were ready to go. So we headed over to our local stream and began fishing. Since there is a current in the stream, I gave my son a few pointers about fishing with a bobber and live bait and letting it drift while keeping the line fairly tight. After a few casts, he had his first fish! Caught a “roach” fish.

A few worms and casts later and he had his second roach. It was late in the day so we didn’t stay real long, but it was still fun for both of us.

Yeah … Dad caught a small roach and a sunny as well.  🙂  But most of all, Dad got to spend some quality time with his son!

I’ll post some pictures of the fish next post.

Hope you all have successful fishing trips this year!

How many different kinds of worm rigs are there? What are they?

Here’s a question I found on yahoo Answers that I found interesting and thought I’d share it.

I get to do a project on fishing which is cool so give me all the information you have on Bass fishing with artificial worms. I already know the basics concerning a Texas, Carolina and Wacky rigs.

I need as much info about this for a project so be generous.

The video below will show you exactly how I rig my worms!

Try rigging a few of your worms this way and just watch the bass come running!
